This double degree program delivers core and elective mechanical engineering and biotechnology courses and prepares you to meet technical and professional challenges in industry. In this course student will develop design, creativity and intellectual discipline skills and be ready to practice as a high-level engineer in the new field of biotechnology.
Higher Maths or VCE Units 3 and 4 Mathematical Methods (CAS).
In this course the major studies include development of design, creativity and intellectual discipline skills to be ready to practice as a high-level engineer in the new field of biotechnology.
Students must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Graduates of this program will be eligible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia.
Student will graduate with skills in genetic engineering, industrial microbiology, molecular agriculture, bioinformatics and regulatory, ethical and legal issues in biotechnology.Careers are available in design, manufacturing and testing in government and commercial organisations and significant opportunities are anticipated in processing industries like fermentation, food, cell products and vaccines both in Australia and overseas.
