In this course student may be involved in water purification, food production and processing, or developing products such as cosmetics or pharmaceuticals. Student will get opportunity to design and develop ways in which raw materials, such as minerals and oil, are converted into useful products including composites, petrol, plastics and paper. In this course the student will learn how chemical engineering is important to health and wellbeing, as technology is applied to make vaccines and drugs.
Higher Mathematics and Chemistry or VCE Mathematical Methods (CAS) and Chemistry.

Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 65%. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) degree is accredited by Engineers Australia. Graduates are eligible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia as a professional engineer.The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), based in the UK, is the primary international professional society for the chemical engineer. The Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) degree is accredited by IChemE, UK, at the MEng level.
After completing engineering degree, Student can work in diverse fields including petroleum production and refining, mineral processing, water purification, wastewater treatment, oil production, research and development, process design and consulting, and environmental management and pollution control. In Australia, the major employment areas are: the chemical, petroleum, and petrochemical industries, the food industry, water, environmental management and pollution control , mineral and metallurgical industries , plastics/polymers, biomaterials and diagnostic agents , pharmaceuticals and vaccines , cosmetics, electricity and gas utilisation , research and development , project design and consulting. Approximately half of all graduates will hold senior management positions at some stage in their careers.
