This course gives skills to move into a range of paraprofessional positions in the civil and structural engineering fields and also provides a pathway into the civil and infrastructure engineering degree. Civil and structural engineering associates provide technical support to civil engineers. Civil engineers plan, design, draft, construct and maintain infrastructure like roads, bridges, dams, water supply schemes, sewerage systems, transportation systems, harbours, canals, dockyards, airports, railways, factories and large buildings.
Higher Mathematics or VCE Mathematical Methods (CAS).
The major studies includes the development of skills in construction of roads, bridges, dams, water supply schemes, sewerage systems, transportation systems, harbours, canals, dockyards, airports, railways, factories and large buildings.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
This course is fully accredited by Engineers Australia. Graduates are eligible for membership of Engineers Australia as engineering officers.
This qualification will help to find employment in the public or private sector in positions like laboratory technician, research assistant, construction supervisor or CAD draftsperson working under the supervision of a professional engineer.
