In this course by combining computer and network engineering with business management studies, Student will be well placed to take on influential roles on technology engineering projects in information, electronic and renewable energy industries. Computer and network engineers devise technologies for the information, electronics and renewable energy industries. Engineers in these fields work with professionals in project teams in manufacturing, automation, agriculture, transport, education, medicine and environmental monitoring. This program will help to find creative solutions to problems. RMIT has consulted with industry to develop a program that is strong in both theory and practice. Graduates may work on international telecommunications networks or environmental monitoring projects.
Higher Mathematics or VCE Mathematical Methods (CAS).
In this course the major studies include the basic concepts related to manufacturing, automation, agriculture, transport, education, medicine and environmental monitoring.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
This program is accredited by Engineers Australia.Graduates can apply for graduate membership of Engineers Australia and are recognised as professional engineers in all member countries of the Washington Accord. Corporate membership may be obtained after an appropriate period of professional practice.
Graduates find work in many industries, including: aerospace, automotive, biomedical, micro-technology, manufacturing, power generation and distribution, electronics, computing, networks, communications, resources , defense , primary industries. Computer and network engineers are critical to technology companies like Intel and telecommunications companies like Telstra. Student will gain a business qualification, which will help to move quickly into management roles. Student may also choose to start own business, delivering services in specialist area of study.
