Students can take on this masters program to gain research skills and training, contribute original research-based knowledge to your chosen field and embark on an environmental engineering research career. Research interests in the environmental engineering discipline are: land degradation, Environmental planning and policy, composting, waste auditing, management and waste minimisation, wastewater treatment, sludge digestion, groundwater resource management, hydrodynamics and stochastic modelling, eutrophication of waterways, water conservation and recycling, life cycle analysis, corrosion in sewerage systems, climate change, sustainable systems, air pollution, transport modelling and simulation, intelligent transport systems, traffic engineering. There are many research areas where students will get opportunity to work closely with industry and derive a solution for a major environmental problem. Close supervision will be provided to you in developing the idea as a fully scoped proposal, which will then be reviewed and approved by the School.

Environmental engineering offers an enormous range of career opportunities. Fields include structural design, water or other resource and land development, transportation systems, hazardous waste management and general project management.Environmental engineers develop and implement technologies to solve problems like meeting clean water supply needs and protecting public health. They address the air pollution issues of acid rain and global warming and reduce pollution while maintaining and improving the quality of life we enjoy. Many decide to start their own businesses.
