In this course student will gain the economic and financial skills required for high-level careers in government and industry, or prepare yourself for progression to Master or PhD research programs. Students are encouraged to develop own thesis topic in the area of economics and finance and find a supervisor within the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing. Thesis preparation classes are run in the first semester to explain the requirements and structure of a thesis and to introduce student’s to the resources available at RMIT.
Applicants must have studied economics at a third year level and preferably have undertaken some study in finance and quantitative methods.
The major studies include development of economic and financial skills required for high-level careers in government and industry. In the course the major focus is on preparation of thesis on chosen topic.
Completion of an Australian bachelor degree or equivalent in Economics and Finance with a minimum of 70% average/Distinction or a GPA 3.0 (out of 4.0).
Some graduates have found employment at the Reserve Bank of Australia, Goldman Sachs New York office and JBWere. Others are presently undertaking further research studies or have successfully completed a PhD.
1 year full-time or 2 years part-time, International student visa holders can only study full-time.
