In this course student will develop analytical and problem-solving skills in geospatial science by doing an original research project supervised by an RMIT staff member with related expertise. We offer a wide range of research areas within geoscience including: geodesy, surveying, GPS, remote sensing, GIScience, cartography and geographical visualisation, the application of geospatial science methods and technologies. Whether student is doing research at the Master by research or PhD level, project will consist of: a literature review , the development of research questions, a critical analysis of data, designing research methodology and techniques, research carried out independently.
One of the following: Successful completion of an Australian Masters by Research degree or equivalent, Successful completion of an Australian Masters by Coursework degree or equivalent WITH a research component graded as a distinction (GPA of 3.00 out of
Development of analytical and problem-solving skills in geospatial science by doing an original research is studied as major concept. Research on Geodesy, surveying, GPS, remote sensing, GIScience, cartography and geographical visualisation, the application of geospatial science methods and technologies is also involved.
Entry into a Research program at RMIT is not based solely on academic achievement and applicants must meet the following minimum academic requirements to be considered for candidature.
On graduating, Student will be eligible for membership of these professional organisations: Mapping Sciences Institute, Australia, Surveying & Spatial Science Institute.
This program will prepare graduate for an academic career, a research career or an industry-based career in Australia or overseas. Our geospatial sciences research graduates are highly sought after in state and federal government departments and multinational organisations.
