In this course student can develop skills as a creative writer. This highly regarded program emphasizes: literary and creative writing studies, writing style, structure and writing techniques, reflective practice, publication and production, the creative writing industry. The program offers a range of theoretical and practical approaches to creative writing, including: narrative theory and creative writing techniques, fiction and non-fiction, literary studies and philosophy, scriptwriting, cinema studies, new media.

Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Typically there are 3 broad areas of work: writing for publication in print and new media, writing for screenplay and script development, writing for and about education and other research fields. Theres also increasing opportunities arising in convergent media platforms through interactivity, games and e-zines. Student can also be a self-employed creative writer.
3 years full time, International student visa holders can only study full-time.
