This double degree integrates Chinese and Western medicines, combining Chinese medicines principles, diagnosis and treatment (like acupuncture, herbal medicine and other therapeutic approaches) with western medical sciences and diagnosis. Student will gain theoretical knowledge, practical skills, clinical experience and recognised qualifications in Chinese medicine. It emphasises the integration of Chinese and western medicines, working together with the health community to provide the public with the best possible treatment. Advanced clinical training is provided in Australia and China to broaden your clinical experience.We have consulted extensively to develop our Chinese Medicine programs, since their inception in 1993. Our program development is done in consultation with the Universitys Chinese Medicine Program Advisory Committee and major professional associations.

In this course major studies include development of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, clinical experience and recognized qualifications in Chinese medicine.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
National registration of Chinese Medicine practitioners (including acupuncturists, Chinese herbal medicine practitioners and herbal medicine dispensers) was introduced on 1 July 2012. We will be seeking Chinese Medicine Board of Australia accreditation for our program.
Chinese medicine has been regulated in Victoria since 2000 and nationally since July 2012. Employment opportunities are expected to increase with the anticipated national mandatory registration. Graduates will be able to practice Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture at an internationally-accepted level. Student can go on to independent practice, a multidisciplinary healthcare clinic, teaching and/or research.
5 years full-time, International student visa holders can only study full-time.
