In the Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy), Student will be trained in diagnosis, how to take full case histories and how to perform conventional medical tests. Student will learn the skills of palpation and motion testing for diagnosis. Osteopathy is a holistic discipline focusing on the overall health of a patient by treating the musculoskeletal system. Osteopaths make treatment decisions that depend on the patients as well as their condition. They might give advice on posture, exercise, lifting procedures, nutrition and other areas.

In this course student will study development of the skills of palpation and motion testing for diagnosis.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Subject to continuing accreditation, graduates can apply to the Osteopathy Board of Australia for osteopath registration. Applicants should note that the Osteopathy Board of Australia has determined all applicants for registration and must have English language skills at IELTS academic level 7 or the equivalent within the two years preceding registration. Accreditation for the new program is pending.
There is a high demand for osteopaths in Australasia and elsewhere. Graduates are primarily employed or self-employed in private osteopathic clinics or multidisciplinary clinics.
