This course helps student to take the first step towards biomedical research career with this Honours program. The Honours year requires to present a thesis for major assessment.The collaboration between our School of Medical Sciences and the new Health Innovations Research Institute (HIRi) offers student the exciting opportunities for world-class biomedical and biotechnical research using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at Bundoora campus west.
Applicants for this program must have completed undergraduate training in a complementary medicine healthcare discipline.
Completion of an Australian bachelor degree or equivalent in a related discipline with a minimum of 65% average or GPA 2.5 (out of 4.0) overall and in the final year of their degree.
Upon successful completion of this program, Student’s are eligible to apply for provisional registration through the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (MRPBA).For 2013, the completion of a full 48-week Internship or Professional Development Year (PDY) is required before student applies for full accreditation. Student will also be eligible to apply for the National Professional Development Program conducted by the Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR) or Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM).There will be updates by the MRPBA regarding internship requirement for 2014 and beyond.The intern/PDY is not part of this program.
Student will have challenging career options in biomedical sciences in areas like: basic and applied research, diagnostic services, industry, government .This program will give student a competitive edge for employment and is a requirement for undertaking a PhD.
1 year full-time or 2 years part-time, International student visa holders can only study full-time.
