Research in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences extends across a diverse range of disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, embracing traditional, emerging and cross-disciplinary subjects. Staff in the Faculty enjoy international reputations in their chosen fields, reflected in the high level of publications -books, articles, chapters and conference papers- generated by Faculty academics each year.The Master of Arts (Research) is a two year full-time degree in which candidates complete supervised research and a 30,000-35,000 word thesis, one unit of study and a 28,000-30,000 word thesis, or two units of study and a 26,000-28,000 word thesis. Research can be undertaken in any one of the Faculty's schools (School of Economics, School of Letters, Art and Media, School of Languages and Culture, School of Philosophical and Historical Enquiry, and School of Social and Political Sciences).
