This course helps student to become a technician in pathology laboratories in private diagnostic laboratories and hospitals. As a medical laboratory technician or assistant, Student can conduct routine laboratory tests for pathologists, microbiologists/bacteriologists, biochemists, clinical chemists, pharmacologists and veterinarians. After working under supervision, Student will become ready to : examine micro-organisms or changes in cells and tissues, perform chemical analyses of blood and other body fluids, assist with research into biochemical or genetic processes.

In this course major studies include performing of laboratory tests for pathologists, microbiologists/bacteriologists, biochemists, clinical chemists, pharmacologists and veterinarians.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Australian Society for Microbiology:-Student can apply for Student Membership and Associate Membership as a graduate. Australian Institute of Medical Scientists:- Student can apply for Student Membership and Graduate Membership.
