This program combines studies in chemistry and business management to prepare graduates for changing roles as they progress from the laboratory to management. Graduates will be knowledgeable in the fields of chemistry and management and able to work in both scientific and management roles. Most of the key roles in chemical industries, and in chemical-related government bodies, are held by chemistry graduates. By learning chemistry skills and as a practising scientist , the business skills of an effective manager and leader will make a highly attractive employee. Students will come across the policy and regulations areas relevant to industry and able to develop strategies, plan resources and make new ideas commercially viable.
Higher Mathematics and Chemistry or VCE Mathematical Methods (CAS) and Chemistry.
In this course the student will study the basic concept of chemistry and business management skills as a major concept.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
This double degree is recognised by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Australian Institute of Management.
A double degree broadens career options and gives a competitive edge.Graduates are employed in a range of industries in Australia.This qualification will help student to work in commercial development and product testing, particularly in the areas of manufactured goods, medical drugs and natural products. Graduates often find work in industries and sectors like cosmetics companies, the food industry, defence services and the mining and energy industries. For scientific consultancies, government departments and commercial laboratories theres also work available in areas like policy, research, public relations and marketing.
4 years full-time, International student visa holders can only study full-time.
