This double degree is the first of its kind in Australia. Students are able to gain the technical knowledge to work in the food industry and the management and marketing skills to design and promote innovative products, Combining food science and business, the program will develop a new breed of professionals who have the scientific knowledge essential for advancing technological capabilities, and the international business, economic and financial analytical knowledge to perform high-level management analyses with a global perspective. The double degree allows students to manage global and large-scale food processing companies with a global operational focus to make Australian manufacturing more competitive.
Mathematics or VCE Units 3 and 4 Mathematics (any).
The major studies include development of the technical knowledge to work in the food industry and the management and marketing skills to design and promote innovative products.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Graduates will gain recognition from the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) and the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
Food processing is Victorias largest manufacturing industry and offers excellent employment opportunities in scientific and management roles.Graduates typically work with large food companies like Kraft, Simplot, Fonterra, Cadbury, Uncle Tobys and HJ Heinz in areas like research and design, quality assurance, marketing and management.
