This food science and technology program offers courses in molecular biology and immunology, bringing together modern practices in food processing and recent advances in biotechnology. Students will develop skills in critical evaluation of scientific literature as well as oral and written communication in biotechnology. This program emphasises the application of new knowledge and technologies to practical problems.
Applicants with degrees in Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry, Agricultural Science or Chemical Engineering are also considered for specific programs.
Detailed study related to molecular biology and immunology is studied as major concept in this course.
Students can apply for membership of 1 or more of the following professional societies:- The Australian Society for Microbiology, Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, American Society for Microbiology, British Mycological Society, Australian Institute of Biology, Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. This specialisation is validated and advised by an industry panel, comprising practising professionals who meet regularly to review discipline contents. Students in this stream are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST). Student Membership of AIFST is also available.
