This Master of Applied Science (Applied Biology and Biotechnology) by Research program offers training and facilities for extensive research. Students will receive specialist postgraduate training in research and do extensive original research towards presenting a thesis for external assessment. Most research within this discipline uses molecular approaches to diagnose and synthesize solutions for disease and environmental problems. Students will be required to show mastery of scientific techniques in area of specialization. If student doesnt have research experience, Then he/she is required to do a research methods study course.

Entry into a Research program at RMIT is not based solely on academic achievement and applicants must meet the following minimum academic requirements to be considered for candidature.
Depending on the research area chosen, completing this program will qualify student for professional membership of scientific societies like: the Australian Institute of Biology, the Australian Society for Microbiology, the Australian Biochemical Society, AusBiotech.
