The wide range of areas covered in our statistics and operations research programs include survival data analysis, multivariate statistics, exploratory data analysis, financial mathematics, game theory, fuzzy sets and simulation of real systems , time series, sequential analysis, software reliability, statistical quality control, sports statistics, stochastic modelling, optimisation, decision analysis, systems dynamics. Students research programs will develop analytical and problem solving skills which allows to do literature reviews, develop research questions, critically analyse data, design methodology and techniques , carry out independent research in chosen field. With these skills students will be able to undertake and complete an original research project under the supervision of RMITs experts in related fields.

One of the following:-Successful completion of an Australian Masters by Research degree or equivalent, Successful completion of an Australian Masters by Coursework degree or equivalent WITH a research component graded as a distinction (GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00), Successful completion of an Australian Bachelor (Honours) degree graded as first or second class (over 70% or GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00).Entry into a Research program at RMIT is not based solely on academic achievement and applicants must meet the following minimum academic requirements to be considered for candidature.
Graduates are eligible for membership of these professional organisations: Statistical Society of Australia Inc. (SSAI), Australian Society for Operations Research (ASOR), American Statistical Association (ASA).
